About Novum Partners
Novum Partners is the strategic management firm for churches, nonprofits, and faith-driven businesses. We serve 350+ organizations nationwide ranging from $5M to $250M in revenue, and we are building the firm that the faith-driven sector has never had — one that combines technical excellence, modern technology, and a culture rooted in mission. We are not a bookkeeping shop. We are the firm clients call when they want their financial operation to actually work.
About the Role
Every new accounting client at Novum starts with one person: the Financial Transformation Manager. You are the architect of the first 90 days. You walk into a client's legacy financial environment — messy books, half-built systems, tribal knowledge, broken workflows — and you walk out 90 days later having delivered a modern, automated, audit-ready operation that runs on Novum's gold standard.
This is the role every accounting professional says they want and almost no firm actually builds. You won't be doing month-end close forever. You won't be buried in reconciliations. You won't be the person who inherits someone else's mess and lives in it. You will be the person who fixes the mess, designs the system, deploys the technology, trains the team, and hands off a client that runs beautifully — and then you do it again.
If you are a CPA who has ever looked at a broken client environment and thought I could rebuild this in 60 days if someone would just let me, this is the role we built for you.
Organizational Context
You report directly to the Director of Accounting and sit alongside the Controller and Accounting Manager as part of the senior leadership team of our Accounting & Finance vertical with room to grow. You are an individual contributor and a project leader — leading engagements, working cross-functionally with Controllers and accountants throughout the client lifecycle, and partnering with firm leadership to refine pricing, capacity, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
The first 90 days of every new client relationship. You lead discovery, scope the engagement, assess risk, and design a transformation roadmap that defines exactly how a client moves from current state to gold standard — including timeline, sequencing, milestones, and resource requirements. You build the plan and you are accountable for executing it.
The technology stack. You architect and configure the right stack for each client — QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Ramp, Relay, Financial Cents, Syft, and the AI-enabled tools that are reshaping our industry. You own every integration, automation, and configuration decision. You are tech-first by instinct, and you bring the judgment to know which tools to deploy, which to skip, and when to push the firm toward something new.
The transformation itself. Chart of accounts redesign. Historical data migration. GL cleanup. Close procedures. Reporting templates. Internal controls. You execute the rebuild with rigor and minimal disruption, manage the transition from prior providers, and document everything in a format the steady-state team can actually use.
The handoff. When the transformation is complete, you transfer the client to the Controller and accounting team with zero loss of context. You train them, support them through the first 30 days of steady state, and then you move to the next engagement. The quality of your handoff is the quality of the client experience for the next three years — and you treat it that way.
The playbook. Every transformation you complete makes the next one faster, cleaner, and more profitable. You document, systematize, and refine the frameworks that allow Novum to scale onboarding without sacrificing quality. You are not just doing the work — you are building the engine.
Qualifications
Who You Are
You hold a CPA or CMA, or you are actively pursuing one. The credential matters to you.
You have 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with real reps in system migrations, financial transformations, or technology implementations. You have done this before — not just managed someone else doing it.
You are fluent in modern accounting technology and you actively seek out new tools. You have opinions about Bill.comvs. Ramp. You know when QBO breaks down. You have used AI tools in production and you have a point of view on where the industry is going.
You think like a project manager and operate like a builder. You scope before you start, you communicate proactively, and you do not let things slip.
You are a self-starter who thrives in a remote, high-autonomy environment. Nobody is going to manage your calendar.
You communicate with executives the way a trusted advisor does — with clarity, confidence, and zero jargon.
You understand GAAP. Bonus points if you understand ASC 958, fund accounting, and the unique structure of church and nonprofit finance.
You resonate with our mission. You don't have to share our faith to do this work, but you do have to respect the people we serve and the why behind what we build.
Performance Metrics
Throughput. Engagements scoped and completed on or ahead of timeline.
Scoping accuracy. Variance between estimated and actual hours across engagements.
Handoff quality. Feedback from the steady-state team and client satisfaction at 30 days post-handoff.
Playbook impact. Frameworks you build that measurably reduce future transformation timelines.
Technology ROI. Manual work eliminated and cost-to-serve reduced through the stacks you design.
Compensation & Benefits
We pay for excellence, and we pay people who build things that compound. Base compensation is benchmarked to the top of market for this role, with a meaningful performance bonus tied to individual contribution, transformation outcomes, and firm growth. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision. Fully remote with flexible scheduling. Generous PTO with an actual culture of taking it. Ongoing investment in your CPE, certifications, and professional development.
But the real compensation is this: you will build something that matters, alongside a team that takes the work seriously and the people even more seriously, inside a firm that is going to be the dominant strategic management firm for the faith-driven sector over the next decade. You will look back on these years as the most consequential of your career.
